Big Komatsu is the king of the coal heap

One of Denmark’s newest large dozers, a Komatsu D375A-8 has been put to work in a coal powered power station.

Big Komatsu is the king of the coal heap
There are a number of Komatsu D375A’s working in Denmark, but I think I am right in saying that this one is the latest one to be put into service at a powerplant in Nordjyllandsværket, Aalborg. And you have to say this machine which has been specced up specifically for the job in hand is a fine-looking piece of kit! The Komatsu D375A-8 which tips the scales at around 73 tonnes and has been supplied with a massive coal handling U Blade for this application. Power comes from Komatsu’s own 6-cylinder SAA6D170E-7 T 4-cycle, water-cooled, direct injection, turbocharged, air-to-air charge air cooler, cooled EGR engine which offers a power output rating of 474kw (636hp) @1.800 rpm. From the footage it would appear that the machine has got a bit too close to a “landslide” of coal from the heap, as some of the material is still on the side of the dozer by the cab!
This would make for a great overseas assignment for Earthmovers Magazine, one to look at in the future I'm sure! Credit for the video and photo goes to Emil Hingelbjerg Mariegaard who trades as EH Media in Denmark.
