Cat’s new D8T gets more of everything

I got my first sight of the Cat D8T during a press event in Malaga in 2011 while I was still doing the blog over at the Construction Index website. But news reaches us of yet another reincarnation for the popular large dozer.

Cat’s new D8T gets more of everything
This new version features a whole host of improvements including a massive jump up in power from its Cat C15 power which is now rated at 359hp (264kw) producing up to 13% more drawbar power when compared to the old model pictured in the photo below from my Malaga visit in 2011. Caterpillar also announce that an all-new fully automatic four speed transmission has been fitted that will enable the new model to shift up to 18% more material per hour than the outgoing model. Caterpillar remains heavily focused on high-tech technology these days and the D8T is to be offered with a range of options to suit individual customers needs from basic slope indication up to factory fitted 3D GPD machine guidance and will even be remote control ready. Check out the video from Caterpillar to learn more about the latest model which I would not be surprised to see soon during my next visit to Malaga.
