Earthworks for Dozers

GPS and Machine Control seem to be the latest buzz words in the construction plant and machinery world, none more so than here in the UK.

Earthworks for Dozers
For many old school operators such systems appear to be a step too far, but we saw the same thing with tiltrotators. The take up on the Scandinavian excavation essentials was initially a slow burner to start with, but now sales are soaring and it appears that everyday someone new has taken the step into the world of the “tilty” following in the footsteps of a number of famous tiltrotator trailblazers. The same routine appears to be happening with the GPS Machine Control set ups and rightly so, the technology is out there to make everyone’s life easier and to speed up the job, while making it safer for all those involved. Digger Man Blog Facebook group regular contributor Jason Snaith has long been a fan of GPS Machine Control systems and runs the set up on his owner operated Caterpillar D6N LGP. His passion for the job has also inspired him to form his own Facebook group GPS Machine Control Operators where like-minded individuals post photos, videos and discuss the pros and cons of the systems. You can check out the group here. Photo: courtesy of Jason Snaith. Check out this video from SITECH entitled Trimble Earthworks for Dozers to find out more about these impressive systems.
