Electric atmosphere as Cat reveal new D6 models

American giant Caterpillar chose last weeks Trimble Dimensions event in Las Vegas to reveal its latest all new D6 models.

Electric atmosphere as Cat reveal new D6 models
A gathering of high-profile customers, end users, press and well-known North American plant and machinery social media influencers were invited to the Trimble Dimensions Conference last week in Las Vegas, Nevada and while there they were treated to an exclusive look at the latest replacement models for Caterpillar’s much loved D6T model, the D6 and D6XE. Photo Courtesy of Aaron Witt of Buildwitt Media Group. The new dozers are not just a re-hash of the older models but completely redesigned and include new frames, push arms, blades, engines, hydraulics, improved undercarriage and integrated grade control, whilst retaining much the same weight and horsepower of the outgoing models. Perhaps the most exciting model is the D6XE which is powered by a hybrid electric drive system. Some may say, well there’s nothing new there as Cat lead the way in this technology when it launched the D7E electric dozer back in 2009, but what sets this machine apart from the D7E is that it features Caterpillars elevated drive sprocket which is a patented design, as opposed to the more traditional track design used on the D7E. Our friends over at Equipment World were there to cover the event and took this video footage featuring Caterpillar Product Application Specialist Sam Meeker who talks about the new features of the machine.
The rest of the world are expected to see the new dozer models which bare the company's new Hexagon Cat branding in Peoria this week, so we look forward to finding out more here on the Digger Man Blog.
