Getting Connected with Finning

We recently toured a large swathe of the UK as part of the Connected Tour with Finning, it was a fun filled and informative couple of days and if you have not yet seen the video you can now check it out on the Digger Man Blog itself.

The tour kicked off in Weston Super Mare which is where I popped into see the guys at Plantforce Rentals, where I fitted the first PL542 telematics unit to an Ammann compactor. We then headed off to visit Smiths Gloucester Ltd, which is where we installed another unit into a Cat 308E excavator.

It was then time to jump back in the car and head for our last port of call for the day in Warwickshire to meet the guys at O’Brien Contractors. At this location we fitted a PL542 to a JCB 3CX which further demonstrated the versatility of the unit in the fact that it can be fitted to wide range of other manufacturers products. On the second day I made my way to Finning UK’s headquarters in Cannock where I spoke to members of the Finsight team to find out more on how the PL542 works and the data analysis that is gathered from the units, find out how we got on in more detail by watching the video.

We will be back on the tour again in the not too distant future and offering one of the units as a prize in a Digger Man Blog competition, so look out for that!
