Manufacturing Cat’s Next Gen excavators

Its been nearly a year since the launch of Caterpillar’s Next Generation of 320 GC, 320 and 323 hydraulic excavators. With the larger 336 models becoming available shortly I thought it would be good to take a look behind the scenes at the manufacturing plants where the machines are being built.

The earlier Cat 200 series excavators were the stuff of legends and loyal Caterpillar customers invested in them all over the globe and continue to do so with the 300 series to this day, not just for the built in quality and legendary durability, but also and often more importantly for the resale value when it comes to trade in time a fact that nobody can deny. Times move on of course and Caterpillar are always at the forefront of ground breaking technology and innovation. The latest Cat excavators are among the most technologically advanced machines on the market, featuring a whole host of built-in systems. As the company states, this latest range is built on a common platform which they say will streamline the manufacturing process and offer parts commonality across the range. This video from Caterpillar takes us on a behind the scenes look at the manufacturing process and thinking behind the new ground-breaking range.
