Terex scraper look back (Blog Post Re-Visited)

There has been a surge in posts on our Digger Man Blog Facebook page recently featuring classic Terex motor scrapers, so I thought I would post another blog on them with a few shots from the archives.

Terex scraper look back (Blog Post Re-Visited)
Some of these photo’s appeared on my previous blog, but I feel they are worthy of another look, as there is nothing that fires up older generation plant men, than motor scrapers and in particular the Euclid/Terex models many of which were fitted with ear splitting Detroit Diesel engines. Here are two brand new Terex TS-24’s parked in the yard of world famous earthmoving machinery dealers Blackwood Hodge on the outskirts of Northampton. scan0033-2 Here we see another later example of the famous TS-24 in the cut on the M18 road job working for Dowsett’s in South Yorkshire around 1977. The machine is getting a helping hand from a Cat D9G who is push-loading. ts24 In this action shot taken in 1984 in Ethiopia, we see an elderly TS-24 powering away with its full 24 cubic yard load, leaving a massive dust cloud in its wake. scan0034-2 In this shot we see the TS-24’s smaller brother the TS-14 at work in Nottingham around 1968. The 14 cubic yard capacity machine is grading down a coal colliery tip. The TS-14 was first introduced into the Euclid range in 1959. The name was changed to Terex in 1968 following a decision by parent company General Motors to rebrand the product. scan0005 Finally in this batch, The 14 cubic yard Euclid TS-14 was a firm favourite in coal mines, where they were used to form massive stockpiles of the black stuff. This one which bears the logo of world famous dealership Blackwood Hodge is seen working at the Manvers Main Coking plant in the late 1960’s. a1 Don’t forget to send your photos in to the Digger Man Blog for potential future posts.
