Wacker Neuson’s big mini another 14 tonne contender

Wacker Neuson’s big mini another 14 tonne contender

There has been a lot of hype on social media about the arrival of Takeuchi’s new upgrade to the TB1140 the TB2150 but it’s also worthwhile taking a look at Wacker Neuson’s equivalent in this sector the ET145.

Often overlooked due to Wacker Neuson’s ever expanding product range the 14 tonne class ET145 looks to be another class contender in the 14-15 market but just like the Takeuchi machines offers the extra benefit of having an offset boom and dozer blade in a compact package. Launched in early 2016 and displayed at Bauma as an upgrade to the outgoing 14504 model, this machine takes its power from a fuel efficient 4 cylinder Stage 3B/Tier 4 final Perkins 854F-E34TAWF engine which offers a power output of 55.4kw (74.3hp) @2050rpm. The ET145 can dig to a depth of 18ft and probably more if you have the blade at the back to tilt the machine up to gain that bit extra and is capable of producing an impressive breakout force of 20,500 pounds. The machines compact dimensions make it a very versatile excavator which is capable of taking on large jobs, but is just as well suited to working in congested areas like back gardens and on single carriageway closures where it can work without hindering traffic on the live lane. The machine is offered with 3 different track types being, steel, rubber or hybrid which is explained further in the video below from our friends at ForConstructionPros. The spacious cab looks to be similar fare to what we have seen across the entire Wacker Neuson excavator range, well laid out and practical with good levels of comfort for the operator. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to put one to the test for the magazine but in the meantime check out the video.
