M & M Plant Open Days a Smash Hit with Visitors

Around a year after moving in to their shiny new premises the Case dealer for Devon, Cornwall and Somerset M & M Plant Ltd, held an Open Days event which was very well attended, the Digger Man Blog popped along for a taste of the action.

The long-established and award-winning dealer has invested £1 million in the new head office and depot complex in Launceston, Cornwall, which is ideally situated adjacent to the A30 which is the main arterial route through Devon & Cornwall.

The new site, which is located on Trethorne Business Park in Launceston, covers 4,000m² in total and includes new offices and showroom, stores and parts reception, plus a 550 m² workshop with five bays. The site also provides the option for future expansion. Day one of the event was a tad on the wet side, but it didn’t dampen the spirits of the steady stream visitors who braved the elements to get out on the demo plot and try out some of the latest machines on offer from Case Construction Equipment, including the 2.5 tonne CX26C mini excavator, the new 9 tonne class CX90D midi excavator, 13 tonne class CX130D excavator and the 35 tonne class CX350D excavator. Case’s updated dozer range was represented by the mid-range 1650M model and the 7-model wheeled loader range was represented by the mid-range 821G which has a rated bucket capacity of 3.6m³. The event attracted a wide variety of visitors ranging from high profile and long-standing customers, to one-man bands, operators and their families, many of whom could be potential customers in the future. On day two of the event, held on the Saturday, the sun shone virtually all day which in turn brought out even more visitors. A number of visitors I spoke to on the day were definitely in the market for new machines and were delighted to be able to try them out in a real-life environment. There was also plenty of time available for these individuals to try out the kit, unlike at some events where the “stick time” opportunities can feel rather rushed. Both the 1650M dozer and the CX350D excavator proved to be popular models that visitors were keen to try out and these machines remained busy over the two days. A number of visitors we spoke too coming off the dozer were very impressed with its ease of operation and power when turning in the push thanks to the machine’s hydrostatic transmission. Talking about the move to the new facility earlier M & M Plant Director Mark Gregory said: “This is an exciting time for our business and the investment in this new site is all about having the right tools in place to further grow the business. The new showroom will enable us to expand our machines sales offering, and with a significantly increased workshop capability and a dedicated service/parts store we are confident we will meet all of our customers’ requirements and ensure we deliver the highest levels of aftersales efficiency. We are also looking to expand the workforce by recruiting an additional engineer.” In the course of my work, I attend a lot of these type of events and I must congratulate the team at M & M Plant for making it not only a very informal and enjoyable day out, but also a very productive one too, I’m confident everyone who attended will have left feeling the same way.
