Blue is the colour as Cat celebrate a historic victory
As sporting achievements go on the world stage, they don’t come much bigger than winning the English Premier League football title, unfancied Leicester City recently turned the form book on its head by taking the title in style leaving the more high profile teams in their wake!
Of course Leicester is the spiritual home of the Caterpillar backhoe loader and just last year they celebrated 30 years of BHL production with a stunning black version of their 432F2 model. Five years previously on the 25th anniversary they produced a silver model which was affectionately known as “Sylvia”. Now in celebration of the city’s football team a blue and white 428F2 model has been produced.
Talking to the Digger Man Blog a company spokesman said, “We're currently working on a range of marketing and promotion activities to celebrate Leicester City's championship winning season, with the #FearlessCAT. Thereafter, we are still exploring the most suitable way to ensure the machine goes to a good home, whilst aiding a charitable cause in the city of Leicester - this may include: Sale, auction, raffle, etc".
On visits to the factory in Desford you do occasionally see the odd machine going along the line in the corporate colours of customers, especially machines that are going into central Europe where it’s quite a popular idea to have your own colour scheme. Undoubtedly this machine will have a special place in the hearts of employees at the company who are passionate about their city and their sports teams.
Of course Caterpillar at Desford have a long association with the city’s high profile clubs, especially the Leicester Tigers Aviva Premiership rugby side, where they have been proud sponsors for many years now. In line with this topic who can forget the Cat 259B tracked compact loader that was badged up in the Tigers colours.
