Volvo Doppelganger’s at Bauma

Visitors to the stand of Chinese manufacturer SDLG could be excused for taking a second look at the design of the company’s machines which do look very similar to older generation Volvo machines.

Volvo Doppelganger’s at Bauma
It may surprise some that there has actually been a tie up between Volvo Construction Equipment and SDLG (Shandong Lingong) which dates back as far as 2006, which is when Volvo acquired a major shareholding in the Chinese company. Like many of the Chinese manufacturers SDLG has a long history, in fact the company was founded some 40 years ago and has grown to become a major manufacturer in the Chinese domestic market, especially in the production of wheeled loaders, such as the latest L968F model seen below. DSC_0277 Wheeled loaders are very popular in China and are used for a whole range of different applications. These Volvo inspired wheeled loaders and excavators use well proven major components using blue chip brands for the engines, drivelines and hydraulic pumps and systems. On these excavators for instance this LG6210E HD model, the cab is exactly the same as the cabs we used to see on B Series Volvo excavators. The current SDLG range of excavators runs from 6 to 36 tonnes. DSC_0274 Those customers who had their hearts broken when Volvo decided to cease production of their well-liked backhoe loader, will notice a similar resemblance to the old machines in SDLG’s B877 model seen below DSC_0276 Check out this walk-around video on the new B877 backhoe loader from the show ground in Munich.
