Fiat-Allis Workshop Manual Request

An email has winged its way to me via our editor in the Earthmovers Magazine office, Graham Black, who received the following from a reader in Australia called Ron Single.

Fiat-Allis Workshop Manual Request
Ron is a member of a group dirt bike riders from Queensland called VMX Whitsunday. They have recently acquired a Fiat-Allis 4WD articulated loading shovel and they are desperately trying to track down a workshop manual for it. There seems to be very little known about this machine in Australia and Ron’s search has so far proved fruitless. As such we turn to the famous Digger Man Blog readership to see if they can help with this! The plaque on the machine pictured above has the following info: Fiat-Allis Europe S.P.A. Omologazione: DGM R10A2T525429Z Versione: 8065 24 091 Made in Italy. Talking about this acquisition Ron said, “The loader originally came to the Proserpine Whitsunday Shire Council new in 1985 and had enclosed cab, but no air conditioning. As you can imagine, the glass and doors were promptly removed! It came with a 2.2 to 2.5 m3 bucket and rear set of rippers.  It is powered by a Turbo 6 FIAT motor and I understand one of the first 3 speed electronically controlled transmission - with controls similar to a Vespa scooter.” Pictured above: Period photo, not the exact model mentioned in this post.  “As you may have guessed VMX Whitsunday is a bunch of old farts on old (beautifully restored) dirt bikes so we might as well have some old machinery to keep our complex in shape.” If you can help, please email us at vmxwhitsunday@gmail.com. On a different note, Ron has a rather battered set of books on the G600 Gradall.  The address in the books is Warner & Swasey, PO Box 10, Darlaston, Wednesbury Staffs.  Apparently, the Whitsunday Motor Sporting Club once had the G600 Carrier as a water truck for some years. Ron said, “It had an AV505 AEC motor, 5 speed Ross gearbox, 2 speed joey box and 56,000lb, 2 speed tandem diff and carried a 4,000 gallon water tank.  All up weight was around 42 tons loaded.  The motor seized and the machine was cut up and sent away as scrap metal.  If anyone out there wants these books, I will send them over free of charge.” So its over to you guys and girls, can anyone help Ron and the boys down under?
