Heavyweight Liebherr over the side

I came across this video from the Mega Machinery Channel over the weekend and thought it was well worthy of a spot here on the Digger Man Blog.

When I first caught sight of this video on You Tube, I could not believe my eyes as the low loader trailer is woefully inadequate to cope with the big Liebherr R 984C which would have an operational weight of around 118600kgs, but then to attempt to load it “over the side” seemed like a recipe for disaster, as the trailer flexed and contorted. Then I read through some of the comments and quickly realised this was taking place in Greece, where quite clearly transport rules are very relaxed to say the least!

I’m sure most of us have put machines on over the side in the past, although I understand its not so common anymore these days, but surely nothing of this size which would be more suited to moving around on a set of Sleipner “roller skates” behind a dumptruck. Anyway, I figured it would make for another great debate on our Facebook group, so enjoy the video and discuss!
