Finnish multi-tool carriers spotted in Sweden

During my recent trip to MaskinExpo 2015 I was delighted to meet Esa Suominen who is a salesman for the LM Trac range of multi-purpose tool carriers, who was keen to show me around these machines that are rarely seen in the UK.

The company behind these machines is Oy LAI-MU Ab who operate out of a factory in Rauma in Finland, which is where they produce the LM Trac range of multi-purpose tool carriers, in addition to manufacturing cabs for a wide variety of equipment manufacturers. In fact the company has been producing machinery cabs since the end of the 1960’s and it remains an important part of the business to this day. Tool carrier production began back in 1987 and at the time consisted of just one machine. The current line up consists of 4 models ranging from 1.5 tonne up to 6 tonne, comprising of the 286, 486, 586 and the largest model the 686 seen below. These compact machines can be used in a variety of sectors including, construction, utilities, landscaping, local authorities and agricultural to name just a few. The machines can be fitted with a wide variety of attachments thanks to an easy to use quick coupling front end including pallet forks, buckets, mowers and snowploughs. The forward mounted cab offers a great unrestricted view towards the selected work tool and is very well appointed inside, with everything you might expect from a modern piece of equipment including air conditioning and radio for those long hours in the seat. The LM Trac range of machines recently gained approval from the Finnish Army, who in turn placed a very significant order for new models which will primarily be used for their fork lifting capacity. It’s always good to see something different and I’m looking forward to a visit to the factory in Finland to check out these machines during production and on the testing grounds in the not too distant future.
