Going Underground with Sandvik

As I am still in Finland as I write this, I thought I would take a quick look at another brand of kit that has a strong presence here in the country, Sandvik and in particular, something we don’t get to see very often, their underground trucks.

Going Underground with Sandvik
The TH663i is the manufacturers largest unit, the 63-tonne low profile articulated hauler is designed for use inside 6 x 6 metre tunnels. Like many machines these days the TH663i features so called integrated intelligent technology, such as Sandvik’s own Intelligent Control system and their AutoMine system. An onboard weighing system can also be fitted as an option for monitoring payload. Powered by a 565kw Volvo engine, the TH663 has a payload capacity of 63,000kgs, and a standard dump body capacity of 36.m3. The model in this promotional video also features an ejector discharge body eliminating the need to tip the body in the conventional manner, extremely useful if required to discharge the load underground, or on uneven ground.
