Hang out your washing with a Hitachi

Over the years on the Digger “Man” Blog I have shared with you some amazing You Bet videos from the UK’s TV past, and also a number of them from the German equivalent Wetten Das which is I believe still running to this day.

In this latest challenge on the popular German show from channel 2DF, we see two operators using a pair of Hitachi ZX140W-5 wheeled excavators, equipped with rotary selector grabs, working as a team attempting to hang out six individual socks on a washing line in four minutes, with one machine plucking the socks out of a basket and hanging them on the line, whilst the other machine grabs a plastic clothes peg in the jaws of the selector grab, and then attempts to securely peg the socks to the washing line. With celebrities on the panel like Celine Dion watching on, did the German duo complete the mission in time? [youtube width="725" height="344"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLx0yoI2k1Y[/youtube] I think it’s about time we had another TV show on UK channels featuring these kind of operator challenges, instead of the yearly bore fest of X Factor, BGT, Strictly Come Dancing, I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here, and all the other dross we are currently served up year after year. It’s also a fantastic way for machinery manufacturers to put their kit in the shop window to the masses on prime time national TV, so I am sure there would be no shortage of volunteers.
