Poetry in motion with Champion Groundworks

We recently had the pleasure of visiting a couple of sites with Liskeard based Champion Groundworks for a forthcoming feature in Earthmovers Magazine, but as a taster I thought I would put together a blog post featuring some videos of the machines in action.

Poetry in motion with Champion Groundworks
The Doosan DX340LC-5, operated by long serving operator Andy Crabb was one of the star attractions on the Kellands Plant Sales stand at this years Royal Cornwall show where the 35-tonne class excavator dwarfed all the other machines on display around it. After the show, which took place in June, the Korean built machine went straight to work on one of the 40 odd sites across the West Country that the company are working on. We caught up with this machine in two different locations, including this visit to a site on the outskirts of Liskeard where it was engaged in the topsoil strip for a new housing development loading two of the company’s Volvo A30G articulated dumptrucks.
On the same job we were able to see the company founder and Managing Director Fred Champion’s son Aaron at the controls of his Caterpillar D6N LGP dozer who we also filmed in action.
Lookout for the full article on this long established Cornish company in a future edition of Earthmovers Magazine.
