That Sinking Feeling

This video has been doing the rounds on the various social media platforms for a while now, so I figured it was worth a post here on the Digger Man Blog.

That Sinking Feeling
This floating excavator using a Caterpillar machine on the upper-structure was being demonstrated by one of the Turkish bodies responsible for water and waterway maintenance. A crowd of senior officials had turned up to watch the spectacle, witnessing the machine entering the river and then going about its business. All appeared to be going well, but suddenly it all started to go wrong for the operator. One can only imagine that the right-hand float chamber within the track had developed a leak, quickly filling up, resulting in devastating consequences!
