Agricultural earthmoving Aussie style (Part Three)

In this blog we present the last batch of photo that Michael Bullock has sent into the Digger Man Blog featuring last summer’s work on agricultural dams in Western Australia.

Michael was now operating the Volvo EC460B, which looks tiny in this shot of a half completed dam clean out. The shot really gives some perspective of just how big some of these jobs are! Michael and fellow operator Irishman Jason Cooney, were working long hours on some of these jobs, often sun up to sun down. The lads were putting in 14 hour days for 2 weeks solid, in an effort to keep up with the programme! Towards the end of the dam cleaning season the Volvo EC460B went off for a major service and re-spray and was eventually to be sent to its next big job in the Pilbara region. As such Michael finished off the season operating a 30 tonne class Caterpillar 329D for the final push before the rains came. Michael reports that he is still operating this same machine on the new job in Pilbara, where it has joined the Volvo and a range of other machines at work on a major iron ore mine site, where they are engaged on doing final trim civils works and batters. Jason Cooney is there too operating a Volvo G990 motor grader. We hope to have more photos of the Pilbara project in the coming months if Michael can share them with us.
