Assembling a Cat 6015 in just 8.5 Minutes

Japan’s first Caterpillar 6015 hydraulic excavator has been delivered and we can take a look at the build up!

It’s quite a sight to see these large hydraulic excavators being put together. I liken it to a giant Lego build, as the various components turn up on site and are skilfully assembled into place by the professionals who undertake these builds.

While the 140-tonne class Caterpillar 6015 is not the largest in the companies mining excavator range, it’s still an impressive piece of kit. But compared to the top of the range Cat 6060 which has an operating weight of 599-tonnes, it’s really the baby of the bunch.

The machine is powered by a Cat C27 diesel engine offering a power output rating of 812hp Designed with a 14.6 tonne capacity, the machine is ideally matched for loading dump trucks such as the Cat 773, 775 and 777’s.

This example has been delivered to contractor Miyamoto Gumi, who have history in using large construction machinery on its major projects over the years, however, this machine is their first large Caterpillar excavator, and the first of its kind to go to work in Japan. It would be fantastic to enjoy a site visit to see this machine in action at some point in the future!
