Awesome Dust Suppression System Revealed “Down Under”

Our good friend Ollie Kitchin gave me a heads up on this brilliant looking dust suppression system which he had come across in a short clip on the ever increasingly popular video sharing platform TikTok.

Awesome Dust Suppression System Revealed “Down Under”

Following a bit of online research, I have discovered that the system is the result of many months of hard work behind closed doors by New South Wales based Cono Services Pty, which was done in collaboration with a leading industry expert in the region John Atkins.

Cono Services claim this to be the first fully hydraulic powered dust suppression system, and it will be fitted to all its hydraulic excavators to reduce exposure of silica dust to their operators and the general public who may be passing the job sites.

Much of NSW especially in and around the Sydney basin is formed from solid sandstone, which by all accounts is incredibly hard digging and generates a lot of silica dust when breaking of being cut by rock saws, a lot of this type of work is undertaken by Cono Services in the region and this is one of the main reasons behind the development of this system, which looks pretty impressive to me!

The civil engineering and earthworks specialist initially installed the system onto their 30-tonne class Volvo ECR305CL compact radius machine, but I understand its now being rolled out across the fleet, as the company continues to expand its rock sawing side of the business.

Checkout this short video clip of the suppression system in action.

Big thanks go to Ollie Kitchin for pointing this one out to me, with photos courtesy of the Cono Services LinkedIn page.
