Back to the 60’s with Andrews Plant Hire & Haulage

I make no apologies for sharing these wonderful images from JCB of Peter Andrews wonderfully restored JCB 6D here on the Digger Man Blog.

Andrews Plant Hire and Haulage have been trading from their base in Wareham Dorset for over 50 years, during that time the company’s founder Peter Andrews has been a staunch supporter of JCB products which have been supplied to him by local dealer Holt JCB.

I have been fortunate enough to visit the company on a couple of occasions for Earthmovers Magazine, and having seen these photos I’m keen to make a pilgrimage back up to Dorset to see this beautiful old machine in the metal, and if at all possible, get in the seat for a retro style “First Drive” article for the magazine, which I think would be awesome!

This 1968 model JCB 6D has been fully restored to factory finish with assistance from JCB themselves and now joins Peter’s fleet of modern JCB excavators including X Series models and some examples from the JS range of machines.

Peter had previously owned one of these machines back in 1968 and it must be wonderful to have this example back in the fleet, although I am sure she will probably largely be kept indoors and brought out on special occasions.
