Barge Mounted Long Reach Komatsu Spotted

Following on from our recent blog post “Alternative Transport” I have been sent a series of photos from an old mate of mine.

Steven J Townson used to be a team mate of mine back in the old ice hockey playing days. In more recent years, having married a Thai woman, Steve has been spending a lot of time in Thailand. During one of his most recent trips Steve spotted a machine on a barge on the Klong Rangsit river, not far from where he and his wife live. Steve figured I would be the perfect recipient for the photos.

The machine in question is a Komatsu PC200-6 long reach machine equipped with a reed bucket which is used to dredge the rivers and canals around his local town.

This set up looks a lot more professional than some of the examples we have seen on social media platforms over the years I'm happy to report. Its always a delight to receive these type of photos from around the world and I thank Steve for sharing them with us.
