Big Cat’s Bogged & Recovered

I spotted this quartet of photos doing the rounds on various social media platforms over the weekend and thought I would pop them up on the blog.

Information on this is rather sketchy but from reading the comments online it appears this incident took place in Austin, Texas, USA. The photos were originally posted on the Caterpillar equipment old and new Facebook group by Willard Martucci who it appears was part of the rescue team.

It is believed that the Cat D9 tractor and 336E hydraulic excavator had become victims of sinkholes which had swallowed up the heavyweight pair of machines.

The rescue team had to deploy a 550-tonne mobile crane to assist in extracting the stricken pair and set them back down on terra firma.

No doubt a hefty cleaning and repair bill to pay after this drama too!
