Big DEVELONs make an Impact in Estonia

Having been running an 80-tonne class DX800LC-7 beforehand, the company KKT Oil OÜ decided to go even bigger for their next investment, and visitors to the Develon stand at Bauma in 2022 will have seen this DX1000LC-7 on the stand prior to delivery.

The company who run an oil shale quarry in Põhja Kiviõli, in the north-east of Estonia, has had a lot of success with the Korean built Develon products and also run a DX490LC with hydraulic breaker. In addition, the DX800LC also runs an Excentric impact ripper.

With an operating weight of 97.000 – 99.500kgs depending on specification, the DX1000LC-7 is powered by a Stage V emissions compliant Perkins 2806 engine, producing a power output of 469kw (629hp) @2000rpm, bucket capacities range from 5.4 to 6.8 m3.

It’s estimated that KKT mines almost 1.5 million tonnes of oil shale annually.

In the promotional video below from Develon, they talk to the quarry production manager Kaidi Sulp, about the operation and how the machines improve productivity.
