Big Doosan Gains Some Weight

Doosan continues to roll out its largest excavator ever the DX800LC-7, examples of which are now being delivered to dealers around the globe.

Big Doosan Gains Some Weight

The DX800LC-7 which tips the scales at 79.5 tonnes is the direct replacement for the outgoing 70-tonne class DX700LC, and has been offered in the range following requests from customers for a heavier machine.

We first caught sight of the DX800LC-7 when it made its first public appearance at the massive Bauma Trade Show in Munich back in 2019, where it was displayed statically with the then all new Doosan DA45 ADT.

As with all these product launches, it takes time before the machines start appearing on sites, but one was recently delivered to an Irish customer, while another has been spotted in the Somerset premises of main dealer Kellands Plant Sales, which has since been put to work down at the Hemerdon Mine on the outskirts of Plymouth, on hire to DUO.

The DX800LC-7 which is specifically aimed at the mining and bulk excavation sectors, is powered by the new Stage V version of the well-proven six-cylinder Perkins 2506J diesel engine, which provides a power output of 403kW (548hp) @1,800rpm. The engine meets all EU Stage V emission regulations by utilizing EGR, SCR, DOC and DPF after-treatment technologies.

Doosan’s have always been well known for a decent hydraulic flow and according to the manufacturer this model has the best in class for this size machine. The combination of the modern Stage V engine and state-of-the-art hydraulic system combine to offer high productivity levels, with lower fuel consumption.

As with all modern-day excavators, the cab comfort levels in the Dash-7 Doosan’s are superb, spacious and well equipped with all controls falling nicely to hand, providing a comfortable and quiet operating position. One could almost imagine that all these manufacturers today punch the requirements needed these days into a computer and they nearly all come up with the same ideas, there really isn’t much between any of the main brands these days, all offering a great working environment for the operator.

One of these DX800LC-7’s machines has been up in Finland with our friends at Lempäälä based Real Machinery Oy, the main Doosan dealers for that region, and they have been using it as a demonstrator to show customers around the new machine, and to try it out on their own demo plot.

Checkout the video and find out more about the machine.
