Busy Worklife, Busy Social Media life

Lloyd Peckham is one of an ever-expanding number of plant operators globally who are now hitting the social media scene, documenting their day to day lives on Instagram as they operate their machines.

Busy Worklife, Busy Social Media life

Lloyd who is 30 years old lives in Hove, West Sussex and has been operating machinery from a very young age, talking about how he got started in the plant game Lloyd said, “Like many others I grew up on a farm, so I spent much of my formative years in and around machinery, but it’s always been diggers that have interested me the most so that’s what I’ve focussed on the most”.

Lloyd has been operating excavators as a full-time job for around 8 years now, but doing housing site work for nearly 4 years, working for Crawley based Joyce Groundworks on a self-employed basis operating a Hitachi ZX130LC-6 which is fitted with a Trimble Earthworks system.

But it doesn’t stop there, more often than not Lloyd is out working on the railways over the weekends operating Road-Railer excavators, including running all the attachments that come with that type of work, something that many of us have done at some point in our working careers.

For this aspect of his work Lloyd is employed by Billingshurst based L&W Contractors on a zero hours contract operating mainly Komatsu RRV’s.

Lloyd has operated a wide range of machines including excavators up to 52-tonnes from an even wider range of manufacturers, but he is overwhelmingly a massive fan of the Japanese Hitachi brand. Having said that he has operated a Liebherr 924 waste handler in the past and dozers from the Liebherr, Caterpillar and Komatsu stables, he also adds that he’s spent time on Doosan DL250 and DL300 wheeled loading shovels, so he’s clearly an all-round talented operator.

Lloyd started his Instagram account in February 2019 which has attracted 8,066 followers and goes by the name of @bearded_excavation_uk you can check him out there and also across on his You Tube channel of the same name. You can checkout one of his video’s that features some of his rail work below.

The Digger Man Blog would like to thank Lloyd for getting in touch and telling us about his career and his social media journey thus far.
