CASE Back on the Wheelies!

CASE Construction Equipment has revealed that they are making a strong return to the wheeled excavator market, a sector which it was always been strong in historically, but which has been somewhat overlooked in recent years.

CASE Back on the Wheelies!

To achieve this CASE has struck up an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) deal with giant Korean brand Hyundai. The wheeled excavator line-up comprises of 5 models ranging from 15 to 22-tonnes and will include the conventional tail swing WX140E and WX160E, along with the short radius WX155E SR and the WX175E SR. These four models will be joined by a conventional tail swing WX210E at a later stage.

The machines all feature well-proven blue-chip components including Stage V emissions compliant Cummins engines, Rexroth hydraulics, (Kawasaki on the larger WX210E) and ZF transmissions. We look forward to getting “hands on” with these new models in due course, but naturally we have already had experience on them in Hyundai livery previously. Find out more on the new machines by clicking on this link.

CASE’s parent company CNH has a long history of “badging” machines back in the day it was Poclain that ended up having the red and grey removed and changed for the yellow and tan of CASE-Poclain.

And who can forget the New Holland connection, the company who took over CASE in 1999 which saw the formation of the CNH Group, this tie-up included access to excavator manufacturers like O&K, and Fiat-Hitachi.

In addition to this links were formed with Japan’s Sumitomo on the tracked excavator front, who also make machines for American company Link-Belt, a deal that continues to this day very successfully.  As such the company has an interesting past in the badged excavator sector.

It will be great to see how this deal pans out for CASE Construction Equipment going forward, with a more modern and technologically advanced range of wheeled excavators in the line-up.
