Cat Customer Voices: Mark Lawton

It’s been great to see some new videos on the Finning UK & Ireland You Tube channel recently focusing on technology and feedback from visitors to the companies Demonstration and Learning Centre in Malaga, Spain.

The civil engineering digital revolution continues at a pace with most Tier 1 contractors supporting and, in many instances, insisting on the adoption of machine control technology. On nearly every site I visit these days in my role as a contributor for Earthmovers Magazine, people are talking about 3D machine control and embracing this exciting technology.

Mark Lawton, Head of Engineering Survey at Skanska UK who features in this video from Finning UK & Ireland, once described the adoption of machine control in the UK as like a “herd of elephants” running straight at the plant & machinery industry, and he was not wrong in his assessment, as the race to adoption for all companies to get on board is well and truly gathering pace.

Caterpillar have long been at the forefront of integrated machine technology and took a great leap forward in 2017 with the launch of the Next Generation excavators with integrated machine control features, which we saw first hand during the reveal event in Malaga that year.
