Cat reveals Mid-Range Next Gen Mini Excavator

American construction machinery giant Caterpillar has launched its all new 306 CR compact radius 6-tonne class mini excavator as it expands its Next Generation range of machines.

Cat reveals Mid-Range Next Gen Mini Excavator
The new 306 CR slots in behind the new 307.5 Next Gen model and the existing 305.5E2 CR model as Caterpillar continues to fill in the gaps while upgrading the old models. We got our first glimpse of the new Next Gen models in February this year out in Malaga when the manufacturer showcased 5 x models in the 1 – 2 tonne class and 4 x models in the 7 – 10 tonne class range. Now Caterpillar are gearing up to bring the full range up to Next Gen spec with the first of these machines being the 306 CR. The 306 CR is powered by Cat’s in-house built C2.4 turbo diesel engine which offers a power output rating of 55.9 net hp (41.7 kW) and is Stage V emissions compliant. In line with other models in the Cat Next Gen range the machine features commonality of parts along with smaller and more well protected access panel doors. And of course, industry leading standard features like stick steer and cruise control which have taken mini excavators to the next level. If all goes to plan we expect to be seeing this machine and other new models during the annual gathering at Caterpillars Malaga Demonstration and Learning Centre in the early part of next year, until then lets enjoy this brief overview video of the 306 CR from Caterpillar
