Champion Groundworks gets Connected with Leica 3D GPS

Earlier this year my good friend and industry colleague Peter Haddock was down in my current neck of the woods, to visit long established Liskeard based business Champion Groundworks.

Champion Groundworks gets Connected with Leica 3D GPS

Champion Groundworks, one of the so called “Big 3” players in the South West of England, has invested heavily in a 3D connected worksite solution, investing in plant and surveying equipment from Leica Geosystems, courtesy of local dealers One Point Survey.

Peter visited the massive Sherford Village development, which is the site of a whole new town being created on the outskirts of Plymouth, a site I have visited myself on numerous occasions for photoshoots, and one of those jobs that never ceases to amaze me with the scale of the operation going on there.

In the following video Peter conducts an interview with Lee Knowles, who has become the face and main contact at One Point Survey, a great guy who is passionate about the product and the business in general, who explains in more detail about what it all involves.

More importantly, Peter also speaks to Mark the operator on a CASE CX250D, who is using the GPS technology to excavate and shape a pond.

Peter also talks to South West dozer legend Fred Laity about his experience in learning how to use the new technology, and his initial concerns about how easy it would be.
