Chinese Factory Leading the Way

I think for many of us, the perception of Chinese construction machinery manufacturing facilities is of some dark, dingy old place full of old technology, that couldn’t be further from the truth in reality.

It might surprise some to discover that LiuGong is the world’s largest manufacturer of wheel loaders, but is becoming increasingly well-known for its hydraulic excavator range. Today the company has 20 manufacturing facilities globally and employs in the region of 17,000 people.

Headquartered in Liuzhou, China, LiuGong sells its machinery in over 100 countries and offers a large range of products for applications in sectors including agriculture, mining, ports, general construction, and demolition.

LiuGong are currently ranked at number 17 in the influential KHL Yellow Table for global construction machinery manufacturers.

The company opened a brand-new R & D centre and manufacturing plant three years ago, a significant investment at a cost of £65M, where engineers and technical design experts have been brought in from across the world to work on the development of concepts and brand-new products.

The video below is a real eye opener on the facility as we follow the timelapse manufacturing process of a 52-tonne class 952E LR long reach excavator with a 24m boom/stick combination, through the factory, out onto the ‘hot testing’ area, and onto transport.
