Chinese feast for Digger Man

As we all know one Chinese is never quite enough and always leaves you wanting more, well last week I tackled not one but two Chinese excavators for test drive articles in Earthmovers Magazine. First up was the 25 tonne class LiuGong 925E closely followed by the latest entrant into the UK market Sany, and their 7.5 ton offering the SY75C.

I’m not going to give too much away in this blog as I am saving my thoughts for the articles, but I will say for starters that these machines will surprise a few people out there. The popular misconception that Chinese machines are not that good, could not be further from the truth. As I operated the LiuGong 925E in a sandpit in West Sussex, it felt like I could have been operating any of the Japanese built excavators, such was the quality of feel through the levers, speed and power of this latest offering from LiuGong. The following day the long anticipated arrival of Sany in the UK was confirmed when I got hands on with the company’s SY75C model, which I have had time to get a feel for working with it at home. Whilst I feel it’s not the most attractive looking machine on the market, I could not fault the way it performed as I used it on a variety of jobs around the property. I’m looking forward to telling more about my experiences on these machines, but first this week its back to reality with a bump, after 3 months of living the dream out of the seat, I’m doing a week’s holiday relief cover in a Doosan DX225!
