Classic Bobcat discovered

Last year we ran a blog post about the search for a British built Bobcat skid steer from the early 1960’s. Well blog reader Matthew Lee has been in touch to tell us about his vintage machine which is still in use.

Matthew’s machine is suspected of being an early 1960’s M600 model, although a positive identification has not been possible thus far due to the lack of an ID plate on the machine. Matthew uses the machine on a daily basis at the moment to feed the animal on his cattle and sheep farm in the Lancashire countryside. The machine is powered by a small Deutz 2 cylinder engine and is a good all round runner, despite looking as if it has been through the wars! When Matthew needed some parts for the machine recently he contacted a guy called Cliff at Border Bobcat who was pretty convinced that the machine was in fact a M600 model and was able to source the required parts easily. Readers might recall that Aldermaston based Promac Solutions, the Bobcat & Doosan dealership were on the lookout for a classic British built Bobcat skid steer loader to restore for this year’s Plantworx show. It might well be too late now, but Matthew has told the Digger Man Blog that he might be prepared to part with his machine if it is wanted for the restoration project. As we always say, watch this space for the latest digger related news and the most interesting plant & machinery topics on the internet.
