Classic Caterpillar’s Stand Proud at Holt Cat

Over the weekend I came across some images of old but restored Caterpillar classics which grace the front of the main premises of Holt Cat in San Antonio, Texas.

The historically connected family-owned business Holt Cat is the largest Caterpillar dealership in the United States of America and employs in excess of 2,200 people across its Texas operations.

As a focal point of the company’s new 3-story high office complex, two purpose built display plinths were constructed and dynamically placed on top of them were, a Cat 345BL hydraulic excavator, and an iconic Cat D8L tractor, which sits on what looks like a giant ski jump ramp.

There is no doubt, the Cat D8 is probably one of the most famous tractors in the Caterpillar range of products historically, and this is a fitting tribute to these machines which have not only shaped America, but most of the world over the years, it’s also a fitting tribute to the dozer and Holt’s 85 + year history and long-standing relationship with Caterpillar.
