Classic Kit Rolls out at Swedish Machinery Event

Kjulaträffen is an annual vintage vehicle meet organised in Sweden and is a collaboration between the State Maritime and Transport History Museums and the Swedish Mechanical History Association.

Classic Kit Rolls out at Swedish Machinery Event

We have been fortunate enough to be able to share some images taken by Mikael Hartwig who attended the event, which took place in Kjula, some 10 kilometres from Eskilstuna, on the 30th August 2025. Information on the machines is a bit sketchy but we will just enjoy the photos of some classic old machines in action.

First up we have a classic Swedish jobsite scenario from the past with a Bolinder-Munktell (BM) tractor and Volvo-BM rear dump conversion, being loader by an Åkerman 475 rope-controlled backhoe.

Next up is this Caterpillar motor grader which I believe is a 1938 Auto Patrol model and is a regular at these gatherings on the Swedish vintage machine working events. I had seen this machine in person before at Maskinexpo back in 2013, always great to these old girls in action.

Another rope-controlled backhoe, this time from Tornborg & Lundberg, who historically had a long working relationship with British based Ruston-Bucyrus. This model is the 10-RBT, which is clearly based on the famous Ruston Bucyrus 10-RB model.

In this shot we see the only surviving and fully restored Carman hydraulic excavator that we featured on the blog some weeks ago, its seen here loading an example of the famous Volvo “Gravel Charlie” articulated dumptruck.

Back to motor graders now with this Swedish built AB Nord-Verk example, not sure on the model number of this machine, but it looks like it could have spent time in military service judging by the paintwork.

Last up an overall scene from the event with the Gravel Charlie and the Bolinder-Munktell tractor and Volvo BM dump body in the foreground.

Here’s a video from the 2024 Kjulaträffen event for us all to enjoy.
