Digger Man Blog Returns to Volvo Days (Blog Post Re-Visit)

Nick is off on his annual vacation, so over the coming days, we will be taking a look back at some interesting blog posts that have appeared here previously.

Today we are looking back at a return visit I made to the home of Volvo Construction Equipment EMEA in Eskilstuna in Sweden, to attend the Volvo Days 2024 event.

Digger Man Blog Returns to Volvo Days (Blog Post Re-Visit)

I last attended this spectacular event back in 2018, where amongst many other experiences, I got the opportunity to take an exclusive “First Drive” on the then new 35-tonne class ECR335EL which I later covered in Earthmovers Magazine.

Some six years later I am sure we are going to be seeing a massive change in machinery technology, and as we know, Volvo Construction Equipment have long been on a drive towards long term sustainability, setting ambitious targets to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040.

I am expecting to see more electric powered machines and potentially learn more about their work on hydrogen powered machinery.

In addition, I am looking forward to taking another look around the stunning Munktell Museum, a facility which traces the long-standing history of this famous Swedish manufacturer.

As per usual at these events, we will be posting material across our Digger Man Blog social media channels across both days, so look out for the coverage.

Checkout this video from my last visit where Melker Jernberg, Head of Volvo CE, arrived in front of the assembled crowd driving the mighty R100E rigid dumptruck.
