Digger’s Conexpo Highlights: Hyundai Inside and out

Hyundai Construction Equipment North America had a significant presence at Conexpo 2020 with an indoor exhibit in the North Hall and a sizeable outdoor plot with demo areas at the Festival Grounds location. The manufacturer displayed new and enhanced A Series hydraulic excavators and wheeled loaders featuring the latest Stage V Cummins engines. The company also previewed two protype electric powered mini excavators.

On display in the North Hall was the new HX210A, the new Stage V compliant machines feature a new colour scheme with the boom and dipper painted in what Hyundai describe as grey paint, but to me looks more like a dark green. According to Hyundai the HX210A features a similar spec to that found on the popular HX220L model but will be priced to appeal to the plant hire sector and big fleet users.

On the outdoor plot Hyundai presented the latest version of its largest wheeled loader the HL980A. The machine is powered by a EU Stage V emissions compliant 6-cylinder Cummins X12 engine offering a power output rating of 351hp (262kw @2000rpm. Operating weight is 67,905lbs (30,800kgs) with bucket capacity ranging from 5.0 - 6.3 m³.

Indoors Hyundai demonstrated its prototype R18E electric powered mini excavator, while on the outdoor stand it showed its larger R35E model. Both battery powered machines have been developed in conjunction with Cummins.
