Diggers Hillhead 2022 Highlights: Komatsu
Main UK dealers Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd have been attending Hillhead for as long as I can remember, and for the shows 40th year anniversary, and MKL’s 50th year in business in the UK they were back once more at their regular stand space.
There was plenty of shiny yellow Komatsu kit for visitors to see at Hillhead with a number of them making their debuts in the UK.
Among these new machines was the latest reincarnation of Komatsu’s fuel saving HB365LC-3 Hybrid hydraulic excavator. These machines have become some of the most popular and successful Hybrid excavators commercially available, a real testament to Komatsu’s quality in the field.

Talking of fuel efficiency, Marubeni-Komatsu also showcased the latest WA475-10 wheeled loader, in addition to the WA480 model pictured below.

Komatsu’s largest articulated hauler the 40-tonne class HM400 was also displayed on the stand. The machine is powered by a 6-cylinder Stage V emissions compliant Komatsu SAA6D140E-7 diesel engine which offers a power output rating of 353kW (473hp @2000rpm. Heaped body capacity is 24m3.

Komatsu have been an industry leader with its Intelligent Machine Control models of excavators and dozers and it was great to see their D71PXi machine control dozer on the stand, and you have to say, it’s a fine looking, well balanced and technologically advanced piece of kit!
It was also a delight to catch up with our old mate Shaun Gratton who has recently joined Marubeni-Komatsu as a demonstrator, which I feel is an ideal job for Shaun.
