Diggers Hillhead 2022 Highlights: Remoquip
It’s always interesting to see something out of the ordinary at the various trade shows that we normally attend, so it was great to stumble across Irish based remote control system business Remoquip at Hillhead.
Remoquip, from Galway, Ireland, produce systems to transform any standard machine, so it can be remotely operated from a safe distance in potentially hazardous work scenarios, like during earthquakes or other natural disasters, and even during landmine removal and demolition projects, in fact the applications for such systems are endless.

The machine can also be set up to enable the operator to use it in a conventional manner, and with the flick of a switch, swap to remote operation.

On the day of our visit the system was being demonstrated by the inventor and owner of the business Francis Dolan, who told us it can be fitted to machines ranging from 2-tonnes up to 200-tonnes, at the show it was displayed fitted to a Kubota KX060-5 mini excavator, which you can see below in action.
We hope to visit one of these machines in the future and to try out the system in a real jobsite location for Earthmovers Magazine.
