DMS Rotator Bucket Solution

German attachment manufacturer DMS Technologie GmbH had a wide range of their products on display at Bauma, but one that really caught my eye was the Rotator Bucket.

DMS Rotator Bucket Solution

Most rotation devices or full blown tiltrotators add a certain amount of build height to the excavator geometry, some more than others. But this DMS rotation bucket design adds virtually no extra height at all, (when directly mounted) and could be a great tool to have in the arsenal for those who are not yet prepared to make the step to a “tilty”.

With this design the rotation drive unit is built into the upper body of the bucket, which effectively protects its inner workings from any potential damage. And as we saw on the demonstration machine, when combined with a tilting coupler, you get the best of both worlds, combining rotation with tilt, all be it with increased build height in that combination.

It seems like such a simple solution, it’s amazing that it’s never been thought of before. I assume though one would need additional small buckets with the built-in rotation device to get the full benefit of the system. Realistically however, you would probably just use conventional small digging buckets without the rotation element.

Four model sizes are produced ranging from the smallest to suit excavators in the 1-2.5-tonne class, up to the largest model suitable for machines ranging from 7- 10-tonnes, the unit on the demo Takeuchi TB225 was the smallest model the RL2590.

I just thought this was a super smart piece of clever engineering and yet another solution to add into the mix. DMS produce many other outstanding attachments but more on those on another day.
