Electric Cats Star at Bauma

At Bauma 2022 Caterpillar construction equipment was showcased by the German Cat dealer Zeppelin, who presented no less than 70 machines from the Caterpillar range of products.

Electric Cats Star at Bauma

The theme for this Bauma from Caterpillar’s perspective was “Lets Do The Work”, as the dealer displayed Caterpillar’s wide range of technology, services and sustainability solutions.

The most notable innovations came in the form of four brand new battery powered electric machines which were being shown in public for the very first time, comprising of the 301.9 electric mini excavator, 320 electric medium sized excavator, 906 electric compact wheeled loader, and the 950 GC electric medium sized wheeled loader, all of which were prototype models.

Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products Division (BCP) also showcased nine next generation mini excavators ranging from 1- to 10-tonnes operating weights. These new models all feature commonality of the cab layout and controls making it easier for operators to jump from one machine to another, the machines also have unique industry features like “stick steer” and “cruise control” which set them apart from other brands available.

Compact wheeled loaders were also on display like the recently launched Cat 906, 907, and 908, all of which are powered by Cat’s 2.8 fuel efficient engines. These machines also feature a re-engineered cab interior, with integrated Cat technologies to improve the operator experience.

The largest excavator displayed this time around at Bauma was the 95-tonne class 395 next generation model, while the Cat 992 wheeled loader was the largest example on show from the loader range.
