Electric Flair from Mecalac at Bauma

Rounding off this week’s blog posts with a look at French manufacturer Mecalac who presented not one, but three new electric machines at Bauma in October.

Electric Flair from Mecalac at Bauma

Mecalac naturally chose Bauma to showcase its new e-series range of electric powered medium sized construction equipment, comprising of the 11-tonne class e12 wheeled excavator, the six-tonne class ed6 site dumper and the es1000 swing loader. The machines have been developed to work on urban and noise sensitive job sites producing zero emissions at point of use.

While most of these machines are built around existing conventional powered examples in the Mecalac range, the most interesting for me was the e12, which is effectively and electric version of the popular 12MTX excavator.

A Mecalac spokesman told us that the machine can be fully recharged in 8 hours, and should be capable of working the same number of hours under normal operating conditions. The manufacturer also presented a 300kWh storage capacity powerpack which they say will eliminate the need for diesel powered generators on site.

Our friend and industry colleague Peter Haddock of Content with Media managed to grab another interview with product specialist Benoit Fénéon which you can watch below.
