Ever Wondered How Dozers are Made?

Back in 2017 I was one of a large group of lucky individuals from the journalism and social media sectors, who were invited to visit the massive Erzberg Iron Ore mine in Austria to see some of the latest products from Liebherr, among the raft of machines was the PR 766 dozer.

Ever Wondered How Dozers are Made?

These quality dozers are all made at Liebherr’s dedicated factory in Telfs, Austria, which runs no less than 4 assembly lines. In this state-of-the-art facility Liebherr produce dozers ranging from 13-tonnes up to over 70-tonnes with the mighty PR 776 High-Drive model being the largest tractor produced.

The PR 766 is the second largest dozer in the range and weighs in between 46,200kgs up to 54,200kgs depending on specification and takes its power from a 310kw (422hp) V 8-cylinder engine which meets all the current emissions standards by means of SCR without the need for a diesel particulate filter.

I have visited many excavator manufacturing facilities over the years, but I have never seen dozers being fabricated and assembled, so I was delighted to come across this video where Liebherr’s product manager Manuel Wagner, takes us on a tour of the production line, where we see plates of steel, transformed into a complete bulldozer at the end of the line.
