Flannery put more safety features into their kit

During our visit to the Rail Live event in Long Marston earlier this year we were invited onto the Flannery Plant stand to check out some of the latest safety developments which are installed on their fleet.

Established in 1972 by Patrick Flannery, P. Flannery Plant Hire Ltd today runs a modern fleet of over 1600 items of plant which includes, articulated haulers, excavators, long reach excavators, dumpers, dozers and telehandlers. In addition Flannery’s have been working with the rail industry for many years and now have one of the most modern fleets of ALO (Adjacent Line Open) compliant equipment available. At the Rail Live event Flannery’s displayed one of their latest Caterpillar 312E low emission excavators which is fitted with the latest additional safety features for working on or near the line including, height restrictors, slew restrictors, ALO track lever isolators, rated capacity indicators and 360o vision cameras from Spillard. Also on display was an example of their Hitachi ZX48 mini excavator which featured a new development, an anti-collision zone system. My detail on this is a bit sketchy but I believe this prototype model was a work in progress and I hope to find out more soon. Thanks must go out to Richard Rowell of Flannery Plant Hire Ltd for inviting us along on the day. As we have had requests for more rail kit to be featured, lookout for another blog post featuring more highlights from the Rail Live event soon on the Digger Man Blog.
