Gallagher Expands its Fleet – Hyundai’s Green Credentials Seals the Deal
Derbyshire based Hyundai dealer EP Industries has recently struck a deal worth £190k with utilities services company Gallagher. Gallagher has expanded its existing fleet with four new Hyundai machines - a R220LC-9A excavator, a HL740-9A wheeled-loader and two new 25D ??-7E forklift trucks. Gallagher is also looking at buying more Hyundai machines from EP Industries.
Gallagher Ltd is a privately owned business that has grown successfully over the last 14 years to a circa £50million turnover business with its roots founded in servicing the utility sector. Today it has operations in Manchester, Kendal, Derby, Sheffield, Chesterfield and Nottingham.
Gallagher provide asset delivery and maintenance services to the utilities and telecoms industries. The company works with a number of the UK’s utility companies providing end-to-end managed solutions including the design, planning and installation of the company’s new or rehabilitated assets, as well as undertaking maintenance and repair work on existing assets.
Gallagher have two additional divisions which include Go Traffic Management (www.gtm.co.uk) who specialise in providing specialist traffic management to a broad spectrum of industries and Gallagher Recycling Solutions (www.grsrecycling.com) who specialise in recycled aggregates.
The new Hyundai machines are being invested into GRS (Gallagher Recycling Solutions), a recycling division of Gallagher. The kit is being used on two of the three GRS operating depots in Derby and Salford to help with the production of the company’s recycled aggregate which is made from utility trench arisings. GRS want to use the latest plant with environmental credentials to create its sustainable product.
Gallagher director, Vincent O'Connor said, “Due to on-going demand from some customers to deliver zero to landfill solutions and more specifically our ability to provide a closed loop recycling solution has lead us to open our third recycling facility in Sheffield in July 2014. We are committed to investing back into the businesses with the latest in innovation and fleet.”
Vincent added, “We wanted to pick products that have strong environmental and safety credentials and we had positive feedback from other users of Hyundai equipment in our sector. We chose to deal with EP industries because they were a local supplier with trusted product knowledge and experience with good facilities and support available for the buyer.
With Gallagher being a business built around being sustainable, the environmental and safety credentials were what primarily attracted us to Hyundai .”
Green Credentials:
Powering the R220LC-9A and the HL740-9A is a low emission, low noise, 157 hp Cummins Interim Tier 4/Stage IIIB, QSB6.7 engine. This engine is complemented by a patented VGT Turbocharger, which continuously varies the airflow boost to precisely match engine RPM and load demands for optimal performance. The engine also features the Cummins Direct Flow™ air filter which delivers better performance with faster cycle times and improved fuel economy over previous models. The eco-friendly engine offers advanced electronic controls and a self-diagnostic system, both of which lead to reliable performance.
The R220LC-9A has an operating weight of 49,640 lbs., a maximum dig depth of 20’5” and a bucket breakout force of 29,980 lbs. Hyundai’s HL740-9A wheel loader has an operating weight of 28,000 lbs, a 3.0 cubic yard bucket capacity and a bucket breakout force of 24,800 lbs.
