Getting the Best out of the Liebherr PR 776 G8 Dozer
I received a very interesting message over the weekend, about an upcoming Dig Day event in Australia, where visitors will be able to test drive the latest Liebherr PR 776 G8 dozer.
This got me thinking about my first encounter with Liebherr’s flagship hydrostatic bulldozer. During Bauma 2016 in Munich, I was invited to an exclusive social media influencers event hosted on the massive Liebherr stand and it was at this particular Bauma that Liebherr officially launched its biggest and indeed first Hi-Drive dozer.

Myself and other high-profile influencers were given a tour around the machines on the stand, with a particular focus on the dozer, and although there was no opportunity to drive the dozer, it was fired up on the stand and we were able to go through the motions of raising and tilting the blade, while listening to the harmonious sound of that big 12-cylinder 565kW (768hp) Liebherr diesel engine, which was a total joy to behold!
The 74-tonne dozer was upgraded to G8 status in September 2024 and featured a raft of new technological advancements enabling the dozer to use more of Liebherr’s electronic technologies, including operator assistance systems for the blade and ripper control.

In the video below from Liebherr, we discover how operators can get the most out of the new PR 776 G8, as Liebherr-Australia’s National Operator Trainer gives us tips and insights for operating the machine, from understanding hydrostatic drive and machine response to effective blade operation and getting the right blade pitch.
I'd like to thank Jaime Alden, Sales Manager for Liebherr Australia for the inspiration on this post.
