Girlfriend has a Crushing Time at Work

A few weeks ago I posted a video from Taylor White, of Canadian, Ontario based family business Ken White Construction, featuring his girlfriend Gill, getting her first lesson in a Komatsu PC170LC, well he’s produced another one which I’m delighted to cover in this blog post.

Taylor is keen to promote the need for more women to join the construction industry and enthused by her recent site visit Gill decided that she would like to spend a day with Taylor, @KWC2000 on Instagram, to find out more about his work and the work that goes on within the Ken White Construction business out on the jobsites, but first there was time for a bit of fun out in the yard, where Gill got “hands on” with the firms Komatsu WA450 loading shovel, to put some crushing weight down on her old car, all done under the supervision of Taylor of course as you will see in the video at the end of this post.

Next up was a visit to one of the jobsites where the guys were working on installing another septic tank for a private property. While on this site regular Cat 308E 2 CR operator Corey jumps out and gives Gill some tips on loading a truck with the 8-tonne class compact radius machine. Of course, with the geometry of this machine Gill had to learn to send the dipper out further to achieve a good enough dump height, compared to the fixed boom geometry on the Komatsu PC170LC she was on previously.
