Going electric with Shantui

At last years Plantworx show we were treated to a big surprise on the Shantui stand in the shape of their eye-catching green electric powered loading shovel.

Its probably fair comment to say that the Chinese are leading the way in the development of electric powered construction machinery, and the pace of that development is simply quite stunning.

According to Shantui, the LE60-X5 features an extra-large capacity battery pack, ensuring powerful performance, and ultra-long range, and features fast charging capability, ensuring the machine can be fully charged in just one hour.

Its zero emissions at point of use, ensure that it has those all-important green credentials to be 100% environmentally friendly while offering low energy consumption overall.

Shantui indicate that this machine can offer over 75% cost savings compared to traditional diesel-powered wheeled loaders, but one would imagine that the initial purchase price is higher than conventional powered machines.

Three variations of loader arms are available to match specific applications, with multiple bucket offerings available including standard, coal and rock ranging from 3.5-5.5 m³.
