Happy Birthday Digger Boy!

One of this blogs biggest and youngest fans Charlie Parkes is 6 today so we felt a birthday post was in order!

The youngster from Corby in Northamptonshire is the embodiment of a young digger enthusiast, so much so that his mother Laura is constantly looking to give him his next digger fix.

Charlie has faced many challenges in his short life, his parents were told at 30 weeks pregnant that he may not walk or talk due to an abnormality showing on scans in his brain, he was eventually born at 37 weeks and was not breathing, which saw him spending his earliest days in the neonatal intensive care unit. Then basically spent the first three-years of his life in and out of hospital. Charlie will be under hospital treatment for life.

Photo courtesy of Laura Parkes (Charlies Mum) Last year Louise Carney arranged for Charlie to visit their local Hyundai, Takeuchi and Mecalac dealer Willowbrook Plant who really pushed the boat out to give the lad a birthday he wouldn’t forget. This year he has been lucky once more with a pre-birthday visit to Diggerland which took place this past weekend.

We are not sure what Charlie will be doing today for his birthday, but no doubt his hardworking mum will have something up her sleeve.
